During the monsoon season, humidity levels are high, leaving your fridge moist and foggy. Due to moisture, the growth of bacteria increases, which makes the food more susceptible to contamination and spoilage.

Because food spills and moisture provide the perfect environment for germs to grow, a badly maintained refrigerator can turn into a hotspot for food-borne illnesses, especially food poisoning.

Start by defrosting your fridge, take out all food items, thoroughly wipe or wash your trays with soap and water. Once you are done washing and all the ice has melted away, you can turn it back on and put your food in.

Frost buildup can hamper the cooling of your fridge, causing it to consume more electricity, and defrosting every two weeks melts this ice, meaning your fridge works more efficiently over time.

The cleaning & defrosting process is more than just for safety, a clean fridge ensures your food stays fresh and tasty for a longer time, saving food wastage over time.
