The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has also seen this rise & has started a timely initiative to raise awareness about sugar addiction in school through sugar boards.

CBSE has required all schools to prepare sugar boards by July 15. These boards created in each school will help educate kids about hidden sugars and inform them about healthier eating habits.

A 2024 study found 12.3% of adolescent Indian girls and 8.4% of adolescent boys were pre-diabetic. Sugar consumption is pushing India to a position on a national health crisis.

CBSE is promoting increased physical activity. Longer sessions of PT and even mandatory sport to combat those sedentary habits caused by screen exposure.

Even if children learn that sugar is bad for them in school. Spoiling parents will do their utmost to detract from that healthy thought. Parent behaviors may have the most significant influence on children learning healthy choices at home.

CBSE's sugar boards are a start, mass awareness can change habits before they form & help prevent the lifestyle diseases that may take hold later in life. Schools are the frontline of the battle.
