A1 milk contains the A1 beta-casein protein, commonly found in Holstein, Friesian and Ayrshire breeds of cow. It can often be harder to digest for some.

A2 milk contains only the A2 beta-casein protein. It is often considered more easily digestible. It is from breeds of cow such as Jersey, Guernsey and some Indian native breeds.

While A1 milk can produce a peptide when digested called (beta-casomorphin) BCM-7, that may form, when digested in sensitive persons, any bloating or discomfort; then A2 milk produces no BCM-7.
