Monsoon might be the most beautiful season of the year but it also brings a lot of diseases and infections for those who aren't careful enough. So here are 5 tips to prevent viral infections.

You can prevent viral infections by practicing good personal cleanliness.  Although it may seem basic, regularly washing your hands with soap and water can greatly reduce your chance of catching infections.

Maintain Personal Hygiene

Street food and cut fruits that have been left out in the open can host bacteria and viruses. To lower your risk, try to eat fresh, home-cooked meals.

Skip Roadside Food

You can easily contract a viral infection if you come into direct contact with a sick person.  In order to avoid contracting a viral fever, try to avoid close contact with someone who is ill.

Overcrowded areas increase the chances of you getting infected.  Avoid going to crowded places as much as possible. Protect yourself by wearing a mask and keeping a physical distance if you can't avoid it.

Your body's strongest defense against illnesses is a robust immune system. Include vitamin C rich foods like amla, kiwi, oranges and antioxidants like turmeric to your diet.
