Diwali is about love, joy, and indulgence. But for people with diabetes, reckless indulgence can sometimes ruin the party and cause health issues. So here are 5 foods that you shouldn't let your diabetic parents eat during Diwali.

Traditional Indian desserts like ladoo, jalebi, and gulab jamun are heavy in ghee and refined sugar. These may be alluring, but they can quickly raise blood sugar levels.

Since sugary drinks are empty calories with little nutritional value and can quickly raise blood sugar levels, they are bad for everyone, but especially for diabetics.

Nuts are usually healthy and nutritious. But for diabetics, roasted and salted nuts might not be the best choice. Their high oil and salt content raises the risk of heart issues.

Foods made with maida or refined flour are heavy in carbohydrates and have little to no fiber. Refined flour-based treats cause the blood sugar levels to rise quickly.
