While there are many types of food that are safe for human consumption, many human food items can cause illness or death in animals. Please take note of any items to avoid for the health and safety of your pet.

This product contains theobromine, which is toxic to both dogs and cats. When ingested by dogs and cats, chocolate can cause vomiting, increase the heart rate, cause seizures, and death. Small quantities of this product can be poisonous.

Grapes and raisins are a serious threat to your dog's health. They can result in sudden kidney failure, and there is no safe amount of either food. Avoid all grapes, raisins, and products containing these products.

These food items are harmful to your dog because they can destroy red blood cells, resulting in anemia. Onion powder and any foods prepared with any onion, or garlic, including sauces and gravies, are also dangerous.

Xylitol is a sweetener found in some products, such as sugar-free gum and candies and some jars of peanut butter. When given to a dog, it can cause insulin to be released quickly, which leads to a sudden drop in blood sugar (hypoglycemia) and can lead to liver failure.

Both alcohol and caffeine are depressants of the central nervous system. If consumed by pets, both substances can lead to death. Even small amounts of either substance can be dangerous.
