Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) is prepared by adding bacteria and yeast to the extract of crushed apples. The process of fermentation converts the sugar to alcohol. In the second fermentation process, the alcohol is converted to vinegar with the help of acetic acid forming bacteria. Apart from being used as toppings on salad, the ACV has many health benefits. 1 . Helps in weight loss
The acetic acid present in it speeds up the metabolism rate thereby burning the fat fast and hence helps in weight loss. For beginners, add a tablespoon of ACV to a glass of water and drink at least an hour before a meal. Once you are used to it, you can increase the vinegar quantity to two tablespoons and drink 2-3 times a day.
2 . Regulates blood sugar
ACV inactivates the digestive enzyme that breaks down carbohydrates into sugar, hence slowing the complex carbohydrate conversion into sugar. It gives an extra time to the body to pull the sugar out of the blood. Drink one tablespoon of vinegar mixed with water and non-caloric sweetener just before a meal. If you are on anti-diabetic pills, do consult your doctor before going for apple cider vinegar.
3 . Lowers cholesterol levels
Apple cider vinegar increases the bile production and supports the liver. Liver and bile are necessary for production, processing and breaking down the cholesterol. So, ACV is a great addition to your diet, if you want to fight off the bad cholesterol. Consume just one tablespoon of ACV mixed with water every morning and you will see remarkable results.

Indigestion happens when there is too little acid in the stomach thereby leading to indigestion. The acid content can be improved with the help of ACV. Add one tablespoon of ACV to a glass of water and drink daily to aid digestion.
5 . Clears dandruff
The acid content of ACV kills the germs that cause dandruff and also maintain a healthy acid/alkaline balance of the scalp. Mix equal quantities of apple vinegar and water and spray it on your scalp and hairs. Now cover the head with a towel and sit for at least 30 minutes and then rinse. You can do this for twice a week. Please be careful while spraying, the solution should not enter your eyes.
Since vinegar is acidic in nature, it should not be consumed without diluting. If taken directly, it may damage the oesophagus and mouth. Limit the quantity to maximum 2 tablespoons of vinegar. If you are on medication and want to use ACV, consult your doctor beforehand.
